Another "Local area connection doesn't have valid ip configuration" issue
I am currently using the ethernet connection in my university dorm. It has been working fine for a long time, but suddenly started to not working after I boot it up. It reconnected eventually for a while, but now it is not even connecting back. Then the name of the network still shown up time to time, but now it is just called on unidentified network. It receives the packets and all, but it just does not connect to the internet. I looked at the different solutions, but it does not seem like my case is specifically same as the ones I saw. Here is what I have in the msconfig/all C:\Users\Shin>ipconfig/all Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Shin-PC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-26-55-44-29-5B DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::8d11:2e4d:b5cf:2c43%13(Preferred) Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.44.67(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : DHCPv6 IAID . . . . . . . . . . . : 184559189 DHCPv6 Client DUID. . . . . . . . : 00-01-00-01-13-33-52-05-00-26-55-44-29-5B DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : fec0:0:0:ffff::1%1 fec0:0:0:ffff::2%1 fec0:0:0:ffff::3%1 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n Dualband Wireless Network Module Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-26-82-0B-73-32 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::180a:6d71:5fd6:51a7%10(Preferred) IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 67.194.26.146(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.224.0 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Monday, March 19, 2012 12:52:37 AM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Monday, March 19, 2012 1:16:31 AM Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 67.194.0.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 141.211.147.232 DHCPv6 IAID . . . . . . . . . . . : 218113666 DHCPv6 Client DUID. . . . . . . . : 00-01-00-01-13-33-52-05-00-26-55-44-29-5B DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 141.211.144.17 141.211.125.17 Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 141.213.143.150 Secondary WINS Server . . . . . . : 141.213.238.150 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection 2: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 06-26-82-0B-73-32 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter 6TO4 Adapter: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft 6to4 Adapter #2 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2002:43c2:1a92::43c2:1a92(Preferred) Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 2002:c058:6301::c058:6301 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 141.211.144.17 141.211.125.17 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled Tunnel adapter isatap.{300CFFE5-E092-40B0-A87B-F96241CA373D}: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft ISATAP Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Reusable ISATAP Interface {6574C620-AC8D-455A-992C-15B89C6C8164}: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #2 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 16: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2001:0:5ef5:79fd:8d7:3e89:bc3d:e56d(Prefe rred) Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::8d7:3e89:bc3d:e56d%28(Preferred) Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled Tunnel adapter isatap.{418CD6D8-02E2-42E3-82CA-F58B9E18E9DA}: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #4 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes So far i've tried -reconnecting cables -Disable bonjour -tried to manually set up the ip (but I don't have any info on the gateway address) -update it -reboot it -etc. I am stuck. Thanks According to your ipconfig you are connected via WIFI to the internet. If you want to connect wired turn your WiFI adpter off and reconnect to the wired network. If that does not help, you will have to contact your university's sysadmin - your problem most likely is not on your PC. Wolfgang

Hi, The wireless adapter has IP address but the wired adapter does not. Please disable one of them when you want to connect with the other one.
